Transpower today announced the appointment of John Clarke as Acting Chief Executive from 1 July 2024. John is currently Executive General Manager (EGM) Grid Development and has held a variety of executive roles at Transpower over the last 16 years as part of his career within the electricity sector. Board Chair Keith Turner said “I am pleased to announce that John Clarke has agreed to take up the role of Acting Chief Executive. Alison Andrew’s departure leaves a significant gap, and the Board is grateful to have someone with John’s extensive experience and knowledge step in.” As part of changes to the leadership team earlier this year John was scheduled to move to his new role of EGM Future Grid upon the appointment of the EGM Grid Planning. Transpower expects to make an announcement about the appointment of the new EGM Grid Planning prior to John taking up his role as Acting CEO on 1 July. John will take up the Future Grid role once a new Chief Executive has been appointed. “The Board has commenced the recruitment process for a new Chief Executive, and we look forward to finding someone who can lead the organisation into a period of significant growth while continuing to ensure its people and special culture thrive,” Dr Turner said.
